In the new patch, we only receive armor experience for the first few hits. This makes armor training with two, where both heal each other impossible and ruins a sink of nice experience for reincarnation. This makes it quite a bit harder.
What I would like to propose is something in the middle: you get experience for your armor, every k hits after you do damage to the creature. As such, we could hit the creature once in a while and heal it up as well, which would make it more active (which is what you were trying to combat).
I trained my heavy to 100 without ever using fountains, duel statues, dogs, etc. I did tank some towers for a few levels, but not for the sake of armor training.
That said, I could see reincarnating on armor skills being next to impossible now that you have to run UW for both myst and armor xp. Hunting, weapon skills, and shield block all level much faster than armor does and that could become a real problem for those who are looking for armor blues.
