    What happens when the rent is not paid in time? Do your items get teleported to your bag?

    No, all items stay in their place.

    Furthermore, if the time runs out on your market square home, anyone can then enter.

    If you happen to be logged out/asleep in the bed, you can be killed, and your items looted
