is there a way to turn desert spots to dirt

if it works like the arctic area (which I suspect it does) then no, can’t be turned to dirt, which impedes farming somewhat

I’ve seen random grass plots around my base, which i think are dried up water but idk. it is somehow possible tho.

ive figured out how to turn them into dirt now, but its a costly method
