Posts: 34To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Okapi’s posts. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of game design most of the suggestions will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Okapi’s out of the box rationalizations, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from EA and Ubisoft’s games, for instance. The forum users understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these suggestions, to realize that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Okapi truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Okapi’s existential catchphrase “PvE server,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Blizzard’s epic game design choices. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Okapi’s genius wit unfolds itself on their monitor screens. What fools.. how I pity them. :joy: And yes, by the way, i DO have a Okapi tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of Okapi’s (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin’ personnel kid
No, you can’t report him because he’s playing the game however he wants to, and insulting people is how he wants to play. No rule has been broken here.

as for dealing with this person ingame… we are working on it.
the person who posted it is a 24/7 online guy (someone without a job it seems). time converted to skill upgrades and ascensions that makes it a bit harder to deal with but who knows, maybe with time.
however, in the meantime, further chat posts of above “quality” rain into global.

there is one thing I know: many years from now, in case the developer of this game does not sell it and just eventually loses interest in it, my Dwarf lady hunter will happily roam around the snowy lanscapes around Ironforge. long after what you see after entering this page’s address will be “404”.That guy can grind 1m myst refund through wellington->wolf cave and then end your game. Best thing is that you wont be able to do anything to him apart from /ignore so you dont have to read his insults.

Welp, first off you quoted the wrong thing. I’ve read the ToS quite a few times actually over the past couple days, and a few times extra just now to make sure I didn’t misinterpret anything. That ToS quote is for forums or user submissions, cherry-picking will get you into trouble in any debate. Especially when done incorrectly.
What you REALLY wanted to quote, was section 12. (You’re welcome)
Oh wait… waaaaay before that you conveniently skipped over the very first sentence in section 1, which nullifies your “minors” comment and first complaint as that actually indemnifies the developer’s responsibility to censor and/or punish people based on speech that minor’s might see. Most add the censor in anyway just for courtesy, but we all know it’s easily circumvented. That section is pretty common practice though, as trolling/bad language is always in any MMO. Honestly how could you miss that? Anyway…
Section 12 doesn’t even apply regardless, as those quoted comments are just generalized statements.
Section 12 would support your claim if there was any actual malicious content. Sure it might be distasteful or offensive to some, but no personal attack was made.
It coulda been a warning message to not go have unprotected (mommy/daddy special hugs since your ears/eyes can’t handle grown up words) with someone they don’t know as that IS a major cause of it. It’s all about perspective. Some people aren’t as eloquent as others either and maybe he is one of those “minors” you were referring to but his grammar and engrish skillz ain’t so gud and it came out wrong.
Better stop hating on people’s potential inability to communicate properly or you’ll find yourself in violation of section 12 and someone attempts to report you for it.
Speaking of grown up words, if what you quoted is actually word for word what he said… I’m seriously hoping you just paraphrased there btw. You just have a different taste for conversation is all, and your attempt in reporting him can actually be considered a violation of section 12 on several degrees just so ya know, depending on one’s perspective.
All of this can technically be nullified by section 3 though, that one made me literally “wat.” irl the very first time I read it. Seriously it’s prolly one of the best trump cards I’ve ever seen. You should go read that one it’s pretty good. If all else fails both of us can slam it down and make each other’s reference to anything completely useless. Literally the dev could state a fact about something but then get troll’d with it instantaneously, but most likely it’s to be used in reverse.

I’m not defending the player btw, I have no real opinion as to anything he said as none of it directly affects me. Plus I just know he’s an attention whore (more accurate description of the majority of what people consider “Trolls” wait til you discover a real one of those) and instead of complaining about them, I just ignore them. Heck only time I really use the actual command to do so is when they’re chat bombing cuz then I can’t read anything.
There really isn’t any grounds to do anything here. You yourself said they were “questionable” quotes, not anything substantial.
All this will accomplish is a waste of development time, which affects the game, which affects me, cuz I play the game, which is ultimately the reasoning for my post. Before you try to twist words there 😉 I’ve been doing this for quite some time I ain’t no pushover.
We’ve already had enough development time wasted so please don’t request more so.

But you violated it against me as well and whomever you’re referring to as well, so Idk. E’rrybody violated e’rrybody I reckon. I guess every player in the game needs to be banned according to your logic.
What do you even expect the devs to do?
Mute? Alt.
IP ban? VPN.
Account reset? Just go to wellington/wolf cave for a week or two you’ll be good again. All the while making alts and annoying you even more.
So instead of complaining, offer a solution. I’m all ears. (eyes)

Normally you could just kill them over and over until they get bored and quit but that’s gone now. Pat yourself on the back for that one cuz you’re one of the major supporters/celebrators of the ommision of PvP from maps.
How is this relevant? Even if you do finally fix your problem with time, all he has to do is go to your precious safe areas and continue enraging you without a care in the world cuz there is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent or disrupt their gameplay, but they apparently can very easily do it to you along with every other person that follows suit. So the end result is they win and you lose no matter what.
Have fun with that ^.^

Btw if you go into the player guide section, there is a list of chat commands. One of em already mentioned here can ignore specific players, and another can turn off global chat. You should go check it out so you won’t have to read something you don’t like that someone else says if it’s offensive to you. Offensive =/= malicious. Even I know that without googling it, and there is a BIG difference between the two.
I suggest you go “read up” and COMPREHEND what you read before telling others to do so. It’s really easy to read words, but it’s harder to understand what the words mean when you put them together. I have faith you can do it though. 🙂

I’d like to point out the inappropriateness of repeating something awful that someone said in the game in forums, as well, you are just spreading the vitriol that they already spewed to a larger audience, instead of just the handful of people who were subjected to it within the game. If it’s that bad why punish the rest of us with it? I would suggest taking a screen shot and emailing it to Admin, don’t repost the hate here.
In no way am I advocating censorship within the game, either, I just ignore people. But I take exception to being subjected to it here

there. are. minors playing this game. some minors have parents playing here too and some of them have already expressed concern about said chat behaviour.if this game grows, ignoring this fact will get it into trouble. sooner or later a parent will show up concerned enough about where exactly their kid spends their time and if said chatting person is on when the parent takes a closer look, no you-mum-joke may help the dev then.

it is amazing how you try to pose as someone who really read the tos if I can disprove your entire post with a single quote.
no where does the quoted section claim it applies to the forum only. quite to the contrary, it sates it refers to “whether online, by email, by postal mail, or otherwise (collectively, ‘comments’”
and that applies to online chat posts, too.

MysteraLegacy.com has a spicy global chat that I do enjoy very much. It gives you a complete view on how humans communicate behind the screen over actions preformed in a video game. I do not wish for this content to be taken from me. I have my full right to see what I want to see in an unfiltered MMO chat – and if you dont want to see it, the dev added /ignore and /bchat
However if this makes you happy, the chat isn’t completely unfiltered. For example if you try to type in “B****” or “F***” – All you get is “B****” or “F***”. They cover it up.
The chatting system in global chat is flexible, dynamic, and easily accessible – You decide who you see messages from with the /ignore feature thus making it your little safe area, while I stare at it all. I read the edgy content and I ENJOY IT!
The edgy trolls make global chat interesting – Please leave my unrestricted content alone….

Actually, if you’d played MMO games long enough and maybe had a little experience Moderating them you’d understand where I’m coming from with my post. Well, if you did have said experience you’d have never even posted this thread czu you’d realize how downright silly it is.
Please quote where offensive language is against the rules/ToS. Remember now, offensive is not malicious… If OFFENSIVE language were not allowed then you could say Hi and I can report you cuz I said it offended me. Hi is thus forth an offensive term and I prefer Hai/Howdy/what’s kickin chicken/igotamillionofem. Everybody that says Hi to me is now in violation of the game’s ToS if your claim is to be valid here, as well as any other words I decide are offensive to me in the future at my own discretion.
I’ll gladly accept defeat if this is the case because in the end I’ll have WAY more fun than I’m having now, and that’s sayin’ something.
The age of majority clause is to protect the developers from exactly this. It’s the same reason why Porn sites have the 18+ pop up the first time ya go on. It’s so that the responsibility falls to the parents on whether or not to allow their child to play the game. (or in that example, to look at their educational reproduction filmz)
What does that mean? If yo chillun sees something you find offensive, you shouldn’t let them play no mo cuz it’s part of this game. *shrugs* Stop being a lazy/naive parent and expect the world to raise yo kid for you.
It also says in there that if you disagree with this (or any part of) that you should stop playing/not let your child play anymore. Minor’s on this game have no rights/protections of censorship or anything really under the ToS, as you have to be a legal adult to even accept them.
So maybe you should just ragequit? Cuz that’s what the ToS tells you to do. Maybe eventually they’ll get changed, but currently that’s how it stands. That’s actually one of the many reasons for section 3 I presume. As a stickler for technicalities, I freakin’ love it.
