Im writing on mobile so beware. I may not be able to reply immediately but when i get home i will for sure.

    Mobile Edition:
Playing on mobile for a little while it seemed fine enough but there are a few gribes which really effect playing out.

First being movement. Movement is cordinated with where you press on the screen semi specifically in a somewhat quadrant based system.

A possible easy / quick change for it would be increase the size so as long as im pressing left of yhe center point it moves my character left. This is x/y based quadrant so the entire screen can be used for movement.

Or preferablly and most friendly make a dpad and put it in the bottom right/ top right corner. This lets you have your hands off screen and removes the issue of covering a majority of the screen with your hand when moving left.

“Oh but the action button is there so we cant…”

Move the action button! I should be able to move and use action at the same time. Action should be placed above pick up for easy access to both while still being able to move with the other hand.

Pretty simply changes but theyll yield amazing improvement for mobile gameplay.

Im new so some suggestions may habe been done already. Im familiar to this genre of game ( haven and hearth many ) and am enjoying this game so far even though im only 2 days in. I have a lot of possibly suggestions and ideas but for now im keeping it to QoL ( Quality of Life ) changes.

Now that mobile edition is talked about lets talk about desktop version…

Hot keys Hot keys HOT KEYSHDNGKGONWNFKGOVNRMOEE and sub menus

This is more of an orginzation thing but it helps see whats available without cluddering the build interfacr

Weapons, walls, equipment, armor, clothing, acceccessories, meals

And whatever may be applicable. So you enter your build menu and you see the catergories and you open that to see all of the things in that category. From there you can click on a object and either view material to craft or craft it. If you dont have materials itll be grayed out.

Heres where hot keys come in…

Pretty B ( enters build ) then press W ( enters weapons ) and youre in your weapons menu all easy no clicking about or struggles.

For people who want to build quickly this would be idea. Past this there could be one more hot key to select what you want to craft in order to just have to press craft.

The more craftables added and the more depth the game gains the more this will be important.

Back packs! From what ive seen so far ( which isnt everything ) theres isnt much room for items. Back packs could be great if we’re going on large foraging sprees. Different tiers give different sizes. It doesnt have to be amazingly large just enough to make it worth it.

Farming… As a farming person. Farming makes me sad. That i cant get a return on a seed. I can see the balancing issue though.. The more you raise farming the faster it grows.

I think a good change would be dramaticslly decrease the amount it speeds up growth and increase the time it takes for them to grow. This will also give you more incentive to settle down and protect / build around your farm rather then doing some come and go farming. In combination with the farming nerfs also introduce getting a =/< ( equal or greater ) return on seeds as you progress your farming abilities. With the cooking update farming should be more and more important ( agriculture was the major boom to develop modern civilization! )

This is can enable a whole new world of things. Tending to crops and getting an nice yield and being able to make food with that yield is great. Imagine how it would be of you had to decide between a wait in order to get ingrediants or having a large farm to farm them all at once.

Mistakes you shouldnt make! Dont make stuff stupidely time gated. In the other games leather takes 12 hours to make + 12-48 hours for the hide to dry then farming crops… Some crops take up too 7+ real days to grow.

These time gates are fine for high end players who have a lot to do but for new players its too punishing to spend all that time for such a apparent small reward to them.

Theres a place for things that take a long time they just belong for people who are higher end.

New players shouldnt also be stuck along with that.

Side notes! An option to make chat smaller and close inventory would be great! Also a client edition for the game. Nothing amazing just not something on my web browser where i close tabs a lot and browse type thing.

A client can be easily made in vb.bet just so its off the browser. I may download a make one for personal use just cause i dont like having the game in the browser.

    I think thats everything…

At least the small things. Theres lots of ideas regarding gameplay i have if the develop is interested but that’ll be for later when i can fully delv into things and am on my computer.

    Hi Noirine 😀
Thanks for the suggestions, your post was very well written!

We have plans to improve the UI which should include a dpad and a more organized inventory pane. You have some good ideas about farming, hotkeys and such too! There are a lot of balance issues to think about but we hope to keep steadily improving the game with these kinds of suggestions. Looking forward to your next post – thanks!

I’ve enjoyed the game so far and when i get to really enjoy things i like to find ways to contribute.

I would be interested in hearing more about the visions for the game so i can better prepare some of the ideas
To work within that theme. I also will be working on a few concepts for the things i mentioned which i couldnt due as im not home yet but will be within the hour.

As im still learning about the game itself theres much i need to learn before suggesting to much.

We’re happy you’re enjoying the game so far 🙂 That mockup looks great btw!
That’s definitely the direction we want to move in since we have plans to do an app store release some time next year.

As for the game direction, we’re trying to make a unique sandbox game that is mostly player-run with some procedurally generated content.
We’re experimenting with different features and trying to find a good balance between casual and hardcore elements 🙂

Are you actively looking for team members? I’ve been on 2 or 3 indie dev teams for some rough projects as a concept creator for in game balances/features. So if theres a spot open I would be interested in the interviewing.

I’m glad you like the UI concept, and look forward to seeing how it’ll do on the app store.

There are some people that help test and give feedback, but we could use more help especially now that we are planning for mobile release and other big changes^_^
For example we’ve been experimenting with different placeholder graphics until now, but will need to create or obtain a lot more pixel art before release. (Hoping to write a post about this soon.)
Anyways, the community can be a big help so we’ll be reaching out as the plans come together 😀

Very late reply (lots of irl stuff). If you need help let me know and we can get in touch as for pixel art that’s not in my tool set unfortunately.
